📍 The Hunt: Discovering Lugaw Pilipinas

I was on the hunt for a quick snack when I stumbled across Lugaw Pilipinas tucked inside Casa Milaben Building, Brgy. Ibayo, Marilao. Its unassuming facade almost had me walking right past. But curiosity won—after all, a place named Lugaw Pilipinas has to nail its porridge game.

🥣 The Menu & My Choice

Six lugaw variants beckoned:

1. Lugaw Plain

2. Lugaw Egg

3. Lugaw Puso (with chicken heart)

4. Lugaw Bulaklak (with chicharon bulaklak)

5. Lugaw Lechon

6. Lugaw Overload (a feast of all toppings)

First-timer? Go straight for the Lugaw Overload—a ₱99 masterpiece crowned with puso, egg, bulaklak, and lechon.

⏱️ Service & Packaging

• Wait Time: ~12 minutes

• Packaging: Optional sturdy tubs at +₱12 each

Yes, the wait is a touch longer than grab-and-go lugaw spots. But watching them layer each topping by hand—now that feels worth the extra minutes.

👅 First Bite Impressions

One spoonful in, and it’s clear: this isn’t watered-down porridge. The broth tastes like a true soup stock, simmered with real meat and aromatics. The lechon bits are juicy, the chicharon bulaklak crackles with each chew, and a squeeze of calamansi plus a dash of chili oil elevates everything to spicy-tangy perfection.

Absolutely filling—one Overload bowl was more than enough for me.

Even my spouse and helper gave two enthusiastic thumbs up when we dug in together back home.

⭐ The Lugaw Meter

Category  Rating (1–5 Bowls)  Notes

Flavor Depth  🍲🍲🍲🍲  Broth is rich, savory, and layered.

Toppings Generosity  🍲🍲🍲🍲🍲  Truly lives up to “Overload.”

Ambience & Cleanliness  🍲🍲🍲  Simple space, but neat and welcoming.

Value for Money  🍲🍲🍲🍲  ₱99 + ₱12 packaging feels fair for the portions.

Uniqueness  🍲🍲🍲🍲  Few lugawans dare to stack this many toppings.

Overall Score: 4.2 / 5 Bowls

🔍 Quick Local Comparison

- Lugawan ni Ona (MacArthur Hwy): Classic LTB favorite, but keeps it traditional—no Overload here.

- Aling Didi’s Lugawan (Meycauayan): Homey and reliable, yet lacks the innovation of layered toppings.

- Lugaw Republic (Robinsons Townville): Sleek setup, decent flavors—still, nothing out-overloads the Overload.

🌟 Beyond Lugaw

Lugaw Pilipinas also whips up rice meals, silogs, and side dishes at wallet-friendly prices. Don’t just lugaw—mix and match!

Plus, they deliver via FoodPanda and GrabFood, so “lugaw love” can find you anywhere in Marilao/Meycauayan.
